For the first 25-30 years of our lives, we spend most time learning. We go to school for many hours every day, then we study at home. No wonder that when it's all finished and we start our adult serious lives we want to forget about books and teachers, and never go back to it again. I know it's not the case with everyone because there are people who genuinely like studying, but that's what I thought after graduating from college.<br />

After some time of "being free from learning" I've discovered something interesting. Learning in your adulthood can be actually so much fun. I can finally get to know things that I'm really interested in, I decide how and when I want to do it and what level of knowledge is enough for me.<br />

What's more, we've got the best access to knowledge than we ever had. Everything is within the reach of our hands - on your computer or a phone. We don't have to buy books or go to classes actually. Whether it's cooking, crocheting, photography or science - you can go to the Internet and learn everything for free. That's just amazing!<br />
<br />
When your goal is to learn a skill, not to get a certificate, there are many free options to do that. You can go to one of those websites and enroll in a course of your choice:<br />

After the course you get a free confirmation of completing a course that you can download, also you can get a paid certificate if you want. There are ads displayed between modules of courses, and you can pay to get rid of them. They're not really invasive and annoying so if you want a truly free course - just leave them on. You can find courses on many topics there - language courses (English and others), touch taping, web design, photography and many other courses.<br />

<br />
There are many cool features like communicating with your classmates, weekly assessments, quizzes after each module. You can get a free certificate, which confirms that you've completed the course, but those are not accredited. There are courses on astronomy, finances, nutrition, psychology, and others.<br />

<br />
For some courses, you have to pay, but there are plenty for free. You get free access to all materials, but you don't get a certificate. In the description of each course, you can see how much the verified certificate costs.<br />

This site is amazing, there are instructions how to make everything - from a chocolate cake to your own canoe paddle :) Besides single "Instructables", there are also full classes on many topics.<br />

If you're working on your resume or you want to show your boss that you're improving your qualifications - webinars are a good choice to earn a certificate. Those which I took part in, required to be online exactly at the specified time and pass a test to earn a certificate.<br />

The other great places to learn something new are Google and YouTube. That's how I've learned basic photography skills. I searched on Google for a free photography course and I found "Ditch Auto - Start Shooting in Manual" at <a href="https://jerad.courses/courses" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><u><b>Jerad Hill's page</b></u></span></a> On YouTube I've learned how to make sushi.<br />

You can use on a computer or on a phone as an app.<br />

Sometimes I get into a “complaining mode”. I’m dissatisfied with everything: that I have to get up early, that I don’t know what to eat, that it’s too cold, too hot, that I have too much work and some people annoy me. Besides those silly worries, sometimes life gets messed up and it’s really difficult to find anything positive in it. There are also times when my plans fall apart, regardless of my best efforts and I lose my whole motivation.<br />
<br />

In moments like that, I like to look back at my life and think about all those bad and difficult situations that had a surprisingly positive outcome. It’s not easy. It happens that a certain event can make me so mad, that I don’t even want to admit that there may be a lesson to learn, I just wish it didn’t happen. No matter how much I’d like to, I can’t go back in time. So I give myself a little bit of time to calm down and then convince myself that it’s better to use my time and energy to find some positives instead of dwelling on the past.<br />
<br />
Most of the time I’m amazed how unexpected the outcome was in many hopeless situations, and how events in my life are connected, without me planning it.<br />
<br />
It began with choosing a school than regretting it, because I realized I could make a different, better choice. It turned out that without graduating this school I would not be able to get my first real office job. The job was a nightmare, my boss was horrible, but it looked good on my resume and it opened door to other opportunities, and finally to my current job that I actually like.<br />
<br />
Due to some family problems, I had to suddenly change from a spoiled kid to very responsible person. The situation itself was awful, but I know now it was for the better for everyone and otherwise, I would have never learned how to be self-reliant to the level that I am now.<br />
<br />
Recently I came across a Taoist story called “Maybe”. The author is unknown but I this version is from <a href="http://www.katinkahesselink.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><u><b>Katinka Hesselink</b></u></span></a> blog.<br />

This story reminded me again that many bad moments in my life gave me something good later. And like in the story there were experiences that I was excited about and thought were good for me, but they weren’t. I’m all about productivity. Making lists is my new passion. Why would I spend time on useless time killers, when I can do something valuable? I shouldn’t even think about it because I’ve got things to do!<br />

Well… no. That’s not a good way of thinking, either. As with everything else, there needs to be balance. If we would only work all the time, without any relax and entertainment we wouldn’t be productive at all. That’s why it’s very important to always find some time for things we enjoy.<br />
<br />
What’s wasting time then? Is it just a phrase without a reflection in real life? How do we decide which activity is relaxing and which is time-wasting?<br />
<br />
I believe there’s a thin line between relieving stress and dawdling, and unfortunately, there are no instructions for this. I’ve learned that the only solution is to listen to your body and to be honest with yourself. <br />
<br />
There were times in my life when I would do things that I enjoy but to the maximum extent. I worked regular 40 hours a week, do absolutely essential chores and then spend the rest of my free time playing games or watching movies/TV shows until late hours. On weekend I would do that all days long. My level of relaxation should have been full back then, right? Actually, I was feeling constantly tired. I would also regret not accomplishing things that were important to me. For me, it was the point when enjoyable activities became time-wasters. <br />
<br />
After I decided that things needed to change I became productivity-freak for a moment. I would hardly do anything relaxing, and if so, I would feel guilty for not doing something useful. Then I tried to have my “me-time” regularly, but I thought that I will use that time only to watch quality content and read articles I can learn from. Nothing wrong with that, but these weren’t <b>my</b> favorite activities. Again I was feeling tired and stressed.<br />
<br />
Now it’s still not ideal, but it’s much better since I understood that it’s ok to do things I enjoy, even though they’re considered time-wasting. I just can’t go overboard. Usually, I spend 1 hour every evening doing things that honestly give me joy. <br />
<br />
Also two years ago and last year, during my two-week holiday I let myself spend two days playing games, watching TV shows and doing absolutely nothing. It feels like I would push a reset button, so I think it may become a tradition :) <br />

A few nights ago, I had a dilemma – should I start watching a 2-hour movie, although I know that I should be sleeping in an hour? I decided that I will watch just a half of the movie, and I will watch the rest the next day. Great plan, isn’t it?<br />
<br />
The movie turned out to be so interesting, that I couldn’t stop watching. Eventually, I turned off the TV 15 minutes after my bedtime. I closed my eyes and I kept thinking about the movie. Wondering how it will end. <br />
<br />
I tried not to think and just fall asleep, but it just only got worse. Do you know that feeling, when you want to sleep so badly, but your brain recalls all possible memories and makes you think about them all at once?<br />

I got very annoyed by the fact that I couldn’t sleep, which made me even more awake. It was cold, it was hot, not comfortable on any side, so I kept turning around to find a perfect position. You may imagine, getting up in the morning wasn’t easy.<br />
<br />
The next day I decided I have to finally change something. Here are some methods I tried to get a better sleep. Some with a better result than others, but I think all of them are worth mentioning and trying.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Sleep at least 7-8 hours.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span>I know it’s sometimes just too difficult to find those 8 hours. You have to get up early in the morning because of work, kids and everything else. You want to do as much as you can before you go to sleep. A day has only 24 hours and even if you really, really want to do everything, it’s hardly ever possible. Balance and prioritization is the key. While changing your kid’s diaper can’t be postponed, it’s absolutely fine if you leave dirty dishes in the sink from time to time. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. Turn off all electronics.</span><br />
I don't know the science behind this, but I noticed that looking at the screens of my TV and phone makes me more awake, especially when there’s a lot of action, sounds and rapidly changing pictures.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Use an alarm clock which analyzes your sleep phases.</span><br />
There are a lot of free apps, that analyze your sleep phases. You choose the time when you want to be awakened, for example between 6 and 7 a.m. and the alarm will go off when you’re in your lightest sleep phase. It makes getting up a little bit easier.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Don’t drink too much directly before going to bed.</span><br />
There’s a risk that you’ll need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night and have a problem to fall asleep back again. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">5. Don’t eat too much directly before going to bed.</span><br />
Feeling full and bloated doesn’t help to have a good night sleep. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">6. Meditate or pray.</span><br />
It’s a really good way to calm yourself. Even if you’re already in bed you can close your eyes and try not to think about anything, and focus on your breath.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">7. Have a to-do list for the next morning.</span><br />
Most of the time we just have things to do. If you don’t have a plan, you may end up worrying about how you’ll tackle all of them and it may prevent you from falling asleep. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">8. Use lavender, Melissa or orange essential oil.</span><br />
Those essential oils have calming effects and I noticed that I actually have a better sleep at night with those. <span style="font-size: large;">9. Drink melissa or chamomile tea 2 hours before sleep.</span><br />
Those herbs have a calming effect as well. If it’s cold they’ll warm you up. Drinking it 2 hours before sleep is ideal because you’ll still have time to go to the toilet.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">10. Clean your bedroom.</span><br />
Most of the time my bedroom is cluttered (still working on that). When I clean it, I really can see the difference, and it gives me unexplainable joy and calms me down.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">11. Don’t use anti-smoking plasters at night.</span><br />
I know this tip is not for everyone, but I think it’s really worth mentioning. When I left a plaster on for the night, I had the most realistic and strange dreams in my life. I was amazed, sometimes shocked that my brain could come up with such plots. It happened almost every time, it also happened to my fiance, later I found some people posting about the same experience on the internet, so it’s definitely a thing.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">12. Wear comfortable pajamas</span><br />
Find whatever makes you feel good. I really like freshly washed 100% cotton pajamas. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">13. Have a good quality bedding</span><br />
A bedding made out of natural fabrics is not much more expensive than not natural, and it makes you more comfortable. Also, remember about airing your bed and beddings. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">14. Mark your territory 😊 </span><br />
If you sleep with somebody the best solution is to have a bed big enough so you don’t wake each other up, while turning on the other side. But that’s not always possible, so the other great idea is to have separate duvets. You’re still close to each other, but have your own space at the same time. <br />

<span style="font-size: large;">15. It the morning – don’t use the snooze button.</span><br />
I know that urge when you hear the alarm, you want to stay in the bed just for another 5 minutes. But the longer you delay getting up, the more difficult it is to actually get up. <br />

And please, don’t repeat my mistake. I know there are plenty of articles like that. I’ve read many of them. Usually at nights when I couldn’t sleep. The next day it was as usual: remote control in one hand, phone in the other, eating salty, greasy snacks. If you want to make a change, try those methods at least once and then you can honestly say if it worked or not.<br />

<br />Some time ago I discovered natural essential oils. I saw those small bottles here and there sometimes, I even had one long time ago, but now I know that it definitely wasn’t a natural essential oil. Now when I know what I should buy and how to use it - I use them almost every day.<br />

See if the oils that you buy are 100% pure. This month's chapter of The Challenge Book is for those who like collectibles. It reminds me a little bit of a quest in a game. Each challenge contains an object that you'll need to find. Sometimes it will be easy, some items you can find in your house, like a bottle cap. But sometimes you'll have to make a little bit of an effort to complete the task, for example getting a napkin from a restaurant.<br />

Under each challenge, there's a frame, that you can click on to add a picture of your finding. There's also a frame in which you can add text, so you can describe how you've got the item.<br />

Well, I’ve got such spots. I see them when I do deep cleanings and it makes the whole process never-ending because I have to clean all those things that I forgot about at once. I also see them when guests are about to come, and I nervously clean them, telling myself that next time I have to remember about them. But guess what - I forget again or I’ve got some other things to do and I put it off.<br />

I’ve got items in my house that always get dirty in the same pattern - clean, clean, clean… DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY. And they seem to turn to the last stage all at the same time. I swear I have no idea what kind of mystery is that! <br />
<br />
Inspired by cleaning schedules that I’ve seen on the internet I decided to make one for myself and give it a try. Will it really solve my problem? We’ll see. Making lists for other areas in my life really helps me, so I think the cleaning schedule will also help.<br />

Schedules like that are not only useful for things that we should clean from time to time. It also helps to stay motivated with daily tasks. Usually, we know how to maintain our space on the everyday basis, but knowing and doing are two different things. If you put those tasks on a schedule and put it in a visible spot it will be more likely that you’ll do it.<br />
<br />
My schedule is based on my own house, if it fits yours you can use it as it is - with my tasks. You can also download an empty printable and write your own schedule. <br />

Then I started cleaning few weeks after I’ve read the book and I only managed to sort out my clothes and documents and I’ve lost motivation. I didn’t continue the cleaning while KonMari writes that we should not stop until everything is finished. </span></b></span></span></span></div>

I've discovered that list-making and planning is very effective with cleaning, especially when it comes to motivation. When I make a specific list what to do and set time when I start, most of the times I will clean actually. That helps me a lot, because with my cleaning habits - I don't have any issues with leaving dirty dishes over night, or ignoring the mess if I'm too tired or I've got something more interesting to do. That's why I need extra motivation when I clean.<br />

Stress can be very destructive if we don’t manage it well, and it can affect all aspects of our lives. Our effectiveness at work drops down, we don’t care much about enjoying life, instead, we switch to a surviving mode, just waiting for each day to end. I don’t have one and only, that works always and for everyone. I noticed that all of those methods help me a little bit, and in different ways. It may not be your cup of tea, but for me, the most relaxing are movies of Studio Ghibli - the pictures, the music, the stories - it gets to me every time. Sometimes when people see me stressed they want to help me by taking me to a party, and having drinks until I forget about everything. Or they say that I should have some company to relax. Well, I’m very grateful for people who care about me, and I’m sure they’ve got the best intentions, but their ways of relaxing don’t suit me well. I really love to spend my time at home, playing games and drinking coffee or tea, that’s fun to me. Also, I’m more on an introvert side so I enjoy being by myself. If you’re not living by yourself, every person in your household should have some responsibilities. Many times I see my friends struggling because they work, cook, clean, take care of their children and they just do everything by themselves because their husbands/wives/partners “don’t know” how to do those things. Don’t let yourself to be caught in that trap. Anyone can learn anything. One time I asked my partner to cook potatoes for a dinner, he said that he can’t because he doesn’t know how to peel potatoes, I told him: “Well, I wasn’t born with that ability either, I had to learn at some point, so try and you’ll learn too”. </span></div>
<br /><div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">If you are able to, you can also pay someone to do some things for you, get a cleaner once a week or two. The point is - you really don’t have to do everything by yourself. Many times we take too much on ourselves because we don’t even ask for help.</span></div>

For each person something else will work. After trying many methods, I came very naturally to the best solution for me. I’ve got A5 notebook with a hard cover, it’s one of the most important items on my desk. I start each day with it, and I start with planning. I’ve got one main to-do list, where I just list all the things I need to do, one after another, the most important ones and those not so important. I cross out what is done, and add new things. </span></b></span></div>

of „The Challenge Book”. The name of this chapter is „Random” and that’s exactly

things that I’d like to focus on myslef. These are things that I never include

urgent things to do – work, cleaning, errands – it never ends. That’s why we
should always find some time to relax, to have fun, to think about something
